Well I finally broke down and bought some Nike+ shoes, even though I’m shipping to Basic in a few weeks. I’ve been wanting a pair, and these were on sale for $60, quite a bargain I thought, since the ones I wanted were around $120. WHAT A DIFFERENCE nice shoes make compared to my $15 Walmart cheapo-brand shoes. I “ran” (jogged/walked) 7.64 miles tonight! I thought that earned me a back rub from the hubby, but he claims it was only if I run 15k. Yeah. Right. So I’ve been having fun hearing my miles beyond my goal and whatnot, and seeing it charted out on nike.com. It’s neat to see all the goals you can set for yourself, the leaderboards (which you can filter to your age, gender, and area, so you can see other “yous” who are doing the same thing!), and all your runs you can compare to different standards like time and distance. I’m having a lot of fun with this, so much so, that I might just go out for another run tomorrow! With a fun toy like this to play with, I’ll be ready for Basic in no time! Wish me luck!

Pictures finally!

My poor husband had to put the pics on his laptop and then transfer them to my computer since practically NONE of the ports on my tower want to cooperate. Rawr. Anyway, here you go.

The finished Clapotis!

This picture has distorted colour, but it’s a close-up view of the stitches, and I rather like it. Here you go!

This is what was left over of the clapotis!

And of course, here’s me with it on!

For some reason, these pics are looking mighty crappy in thumbnails, so hover over them for a more clear view, or click on them for a direct link to the large image. I don’t get why they’re coming out so nastily pixelated all of a sudden. Blech.

I also have progress on Cindy and some new bags to show off, but it’s 10:00 pm, my vacation to Kansas City starts tomorrow (!!!) and I’m done fighting with the computer for the evening! Goodnight, and good weekend!

What a week.

March 8, 2007

UGH. My Clapotis is done, but my port on my computer won’t read my card, so I can’t upload any photos at the moment. It’s beautiful, and I’ve gotten many compliments.

I had a great drill weekend, lots of fun doing land navigation and whatnot, and I found out I’m SHIPPING!! April 10th is my last day here, and I leave the morning of the 1th! It’s just too bad that someone had the balls to steal my knitting bag out of the back seat of my car. It contained my Social Security Card (my fault for carrying it!), my driver’s license, my military access card (CAC), $180, my new Satin Hands Mary Kay set that I never got to use, my pickup slip for my wedding ring that’s being resized, my $18/skein Lorna’s Laces shepherd sock in the motherlode colourway, my Cindy sweater that was almost done with the front, and maybe a few other things like needles and stitch counters and whatnot.

WHAT THE HELL? What’s wrong with these people that A) They’re stealing out of my car, B) They’re stealing from the parking lot of a U.S. military ARMORY for Christ’s sake, and C) That they had to take the knitting? Come on guys, take my cash and IDs, I can replace that crap. Leave me my knitting that took me hours to do. Thanks a lot assholes. I can only hope and pray that it wasn’t one of my fellow soldiers. My husband seems to think that it was, his theory is “Who else had business on that parking lot?” I hope you’re wrong honey, I really hope you’re wrong.

I’ve replaced my Driver’s License ($12), thank God I had my Marriage Certificate and my Birth Certificate. That’s all the ID I have right now! I also called Sgt. Montoya and reported my CAC card stolen, so now I have to go down and explain why it wasn’t important enough to safeguard. Greeaat. I went to the SSA yesterday, but they told me I can’t get another Social Security Card until I get my PLASTIC license.

You know, whoever you fuckers are who stole my bag, you are SERIOUSLY lucky I don’t ship ’til April, otherwise I’d be stuck here in Kansas only because I don’t have current valid IDs thanks to you assholes who think it must be some hilarious bullshit to delay a shipper. Well THANKS. Hope you choke on it.

So today I went to the Red Cross to go donate platelets on my day off, since it’s been a while since I’ve last donated. I haven’t been in the chair for an hour yet when I had to crack my knuckles. So I cracked my knuckles and accidentally moved my arm! I almost blew a vein, and I had to stop the donation! I was so upset at myself for being so stupid that I cried in the little cafeteria in front of the ladies who serve the sloppy joes. I felt like a fool for being so upset about something like that, but one of the ladies told me something similar happened to her, and it’s hard to think about that you’ve just let someone down who needs that bag of platelets, all because the arm moved. So CRAP. I can donate again, but not until this damn bruise goes down.

So yeah. That’s been my week. Hoo-freaking-ray. I can only hope that this next week goes by a lot smoother. I only hope that the DMV gets me that license soon so I can get my paperwork in order.

Now I just have to pass that damn arms test and I’ll be all set! Wish me luck!
