FO Pics!

November 26, 2006

Finally! Some pics of said “FO”s! I have since finished the Triforce Gauntlet and it is now in the washer awaiting felting. The thumb’s a bit funky, but we’ll see how it turns out. If all goes well, I’ll make a pair for the guy at Gamestop with whom I chat about upcoming games now and then.

Here’s a pic of the Triforce Gauntlet.

Triforce Gauntlet

The matching hand will be only plain green. For those of you who have never played a Zelda game, Link, the main character has those three triangles on his right hand. 3 triangles make up the “Triforce”, Link’s piece is the triforce of courage. Zelda has the triforce of wisdom, and Ganon (evil dude) has the triforce of power. So go out and play Zelda already, it kicks buttocks!

I also finished Ms. Henrietta’s shawl “Bloom” from Knitty.com. It was such a breeze to knit. If I really focused, I could have done it in 3 days, easy. Too bad the pattern was a little repetitive. Good thing there were only 9 repeats per side! Here’s a pic of Bloom:

One of the features of this pattern I really like is the way the knitting encircles the neck. I tried taking a picture to describe what I mean, I mean the rows start at the neck, and kind of spread out down the length of the shawl. Of course they don’t really “spread out”, it’s just the effect of wrapped short rows, but it still looks really cool. Here’s the pic:

Of course I have a pic of my father’s RAGBRAI scarf.

RADPAN RAGBRAI scarf

For those of you who may not be able to read it, it says “Team RADPAN Ride all day Party all night” with a lovely full margarita. I still need to embroider the lime on the rim! ^_^ God this thing took me forever. I’m so glad all I have to do is weave in ends and put the lime in! I was thinking about beading some “salt” on the rim, but how long do I want this thing to take before it’s done anyway? As it is, it’s got to be at least 7′ long. It’s HUGE. Here’s a picture of how it looks on my Queen (!) size bed.

Of course the holiday season wouldn’t be complete without something for my dear old self! While I was deciding how to go about intarsia in the round, I made these fingerless mittens for myself.

Felted mittens

They’re falling apart at the thumb seam a bit, and they’re a little big, but I love them to death! They’re just so awesome! Now of course, the hubby’s complaining that I haven’t started his socks yet! Yay, more knitting to do! That’s fine sweetie, keep the knitting coming! ^_^ Once my Knitpicks order comes I’ll be starting Cindy, so between those two patterns, I should be all set for a while!

Update much?

November 25, 2006

Yeah I know, I know, UPDATE! Sorry guys, I’ve been so busy trying to finish up Christmas items, I just haven’t gotten to updating! I have pictures coming soon of all my FOs including: A Bloom shawl for Henrietta, My father’s RAGBRAI scarf (the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) which isn’t quite done (still have to outline letters, weave in ends and fill up the margarita stitching), My brother’s other fingerless Zelda glove, still working on the thumb for the first one, seriously considering going thumbless, and of course my first pair of felted fingerless mittens!

For Henrietta’s Bloom, I’m using Trendsetter Dune #94, Magenta Moonlight. Lovely shawl, but I will never buy the yarn again, it is very difficult to find a suitable pattern for it, and I didn’t know that NOBODY in the history of the universe carries that colour anymore, of course until I just searched for it weeks after the shawl was finished. Rawr!

My Dad’s shawl I did in cheapo Lily’s Sugar and Cream in white and lime green to reflect his team RADPANs colours (kinda).

I have no idea what I used for my brother’s fingerless Zelda mittens (!!!). It’s from my LYS Heritage Hut and I very promptly lost both yarn bands of that lovely variegated green, as well as the burnt gold colour I’m using for the triforce. I know, FOR SHAME! I’m not much of a knitter if I can’t hold onto my yarn bands right? Oh well, I’m having too much fun right now playing the Wii to trouble with it, so NEENER! :P

So that’s it for now, no pics until I can clean a spot in the house long enough so you can’t see my mess in the background!

You know, as I write this, these don’t sound like FO’s at all! I still got a lot of work to do apparently, and I’ve got 13 skeins of Knitpicks Wool of the Andes (That’s “WOTA” Jeanette, Knitpicks is a brand we all love dearly) in “fired brick” coming to me soon for Cindy!
